You are the Publisher and the Author and Files Owner – all the Power all the Time
We have heard from our authors for 20 years that what they want is full power over their book before it’s published and after published. It’s your book – it’s understandable.
However, it has always come at a price, too high a price. Long ago it meant LLCs had to be formed, much of the logistics of being a publisher had to be assumed.
Over the years those slowly got less daunting, but it has always been that a high price is paid in distribution. Simply put, you can be your own publisher but the distribution – where your book will appear, what retailers will carry you, whether you have a fair shake competing with non-author publishers or not – was weak. You will lose on each of those.
That is no longer true! Using the right partners, knowing how to manipulate so the logistics are doable, so the distribution is just as good as if a publisher published your book, so you appear in terms of the retailers, distributors, as an equal – that is all now doable.
We call this chain of services our Author Power package. You will not only retain all the editorial power before you publish, but you are your own publisher. We navigate all the logistics for you, but – using the publisher name you choose – you are the publisher listed on the spine of your book and on the copyright page.
You retain all the power from front to back.
This doesn’t mean that Amazon or Apple rolls over any more than they would with a non-author publisher, but it means they don’t do it less.
It doesn’t mean you will get the 100% of the retail sales revenue from you book, but it does mean that after the retailer cost and print cost, the rest is yours.
There is no publisher cut on your royalties. After the retailer and print costs, the rest is yours.
If you want to change the cover, you don’t have to fight anyone to do it.
If you want to change the interior, write new chapters or rewrite the old ones, the files are right there for that to happen. You never have to start over.
